Karu residents in the the north central were today thrown into disarray following a fire outbreak that destroy properties and threatened lives.

Fire engulfed Mararaba market in Nasarawa State on Tuesday evening around 8pm local time.

Eye witnesses have confirmed that Mararaba main market located within Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state is on fire.

According to one of the eye witnesses, Mr. Boniface Ogar, the fire started around 8pm when most shop owners have closed for the day's business.

Mararaba is a border town neighbouring Nyanya, Abuja's suburb town. Fire ambulances were seen by reporters enroute the market area as at press time.
