Nigeria's domestic airlines faced major disruption in August, with Air Peace and United Nigeria leading the delays.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority released its August report showing that 15 airlines flew 7,961 flights during the month. However, passengers had a rough time.

About 4,765 flights arrived late while airlines cancelled another 36 services.

In other words, roughly six out of every ten flights didn't leave on time.

Air Peace had the worst record.

The airline ran 1,864 flights and reported 1,330 delays, meaning more than 71 per cent of its flights ran behind schedule.

United Nigeria also showed up among the carriers with the highest number of delayed services.

The disruptions had a real impact on travellers using Nigeria's domestic routes.

While airlines completed thousands of flights, the high number of late departures messed up travel plans for many passengers.

The report covered flights from 15 carriers accounting for about 60 per cent of all domestic operations in the month, giving a clear picture of how often flights ran late or got cancelled.
