Fresh tension is brewing in Kano as the head of the states anti corruption commission reportedly steps down after months of mounting pressure.

The chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has reportedly resigned following mounting pressure from the state government over poor performance.
Saidu Yahaya stepped down after facing criticism for allegedly failing to meet expectations.
However, neither Yahaya nor the state government has publicly confirmed the resignation as of now.
Yahaya was appointed chairman in August 2025 after the previous chairman's tenure ended.
The state House of Assembly approved him for a five-year term.
In recent months, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf publicly criticised Yahaya over what he described as non-performance as head of the anti-graft agency.
A source suggested that Yahaya's failure to perform might be linked to his background as a federal anti-corruption staff member rather than a politician.
This difference in experience may have affected his ability to do the job effectively.
