Lere Olayinka, an aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has publicly criticized Igbo traders who protested against Chinese businessmen at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex.

The local traders took to the market to complain that Chinese merchants are now selling goods directly to regular buyers at much lower prices.

They argued that this practice is hurting Nigerian retailers who cannot compete with such low rates.

Reacting to the protest on social media, Olayinka slammed the traders for demanding that the Chinese sellers leave.

He pointed out that both the local traders and the Chinese merchants came to Lagos strictly to do business, adding that the market does not belong to either group.
