Police have increased security in Yola and other parts of Adamawa ahead of Vice President Kashim Shettimas visit.

Police in Adamawa State have flooded Yola and surrounding areas with armed officers and armoured vehicles ahead of Vice President Kashim Shettima's planned condolence visit to the family of the late Bamanga Tukur.
The security buildup was ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, and involves personnel from multiple units including the Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit and Anti-Kidnapping teams.
The command announced the deployment Thursday through spokesman SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirming that security measures have been tightened across the state capital and other key locations.
Officers will conduct traffic diversions and checkpoint operations in and around Yola during the visit.
The police commissioner has called on residents to remain cooperative and law-abiding, warning that troublemakers and those intent on causing disruption will face swift action.
He stressed that the command will not tolerate any breach of the peace or attempt to disrupt the Vice President's visit.
The public has been asked to stay alert and report any suspicious persons or unusual activity to the nearest police station or emergency lines.
The police command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the visit.
