Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged his people to brace for "anything" as tensions mount over the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The warning comes as Ukrainian forces have stepped up drone strikes deep inside Russia, hitting oil facilities and critical infrastructure across the country.
Russian authorities say they have shot down thousands of drones in recent months, but the attacks continue disrupting airports, fuel supplies and everyday life in parts of Russia.
Moscow and Kyiv have been trading long-range strikes with no sign of backing down.
Putin insists Russia has the capacity to sustain the war and claims his forces are making gains on the ground.
He has also suggested Moscow would consider talks if they could lead to real results, though no serious negotiations appear underway.
The Kremlin has dismissed talk of another military draft as baseless, even as the country grapples with economic strain and mounting chaos from the conflict.
With the war entering a fresh period of tension, Putin's call for Russians to prepare for anything is likely to fuel more questions about what Moscow might do next.
