The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken Idris Gana Mohammed to court over an alleged N6.85 million car deal fraud in Abuja.

Mohammed appeared before Justice A.M. Abdullahi at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

The EFCC’s Abuja Zonal Directorate filed a single charge of criminal misappropriation and obtaining money by false pretense against him.

Court documents show that Ampatech Nigeria Limited paid Mohammed N6.85 million between June 10 and June 13, 2026, to purchase a black Toyota Camry.

However, the prosecution alleges that Mohammed pocketed the funds, failed to supply the car, and refused to refund the money.

Mohammed pleaded not guilty to the charge.

While EFCC lawyer G.G. Gajere pushed for the trial to begin immediately, defense attorney Ibrahim Jibril noted that a bail application had already been served to the prosecution.

Justice Abdullahi ordered that the accused be held at the Kuje Correctional Centre until the trial starts on September 24, 2026.
