An elderly man named Muhammad Bello has been rushed to the hospital after a hit-and-run driver knocked him down along the inward Itoikin Road in Agbowa, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, prompting an immediate distress call to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
Confirming the event in a statement, LASEMA Permanent Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that the agency's local response team arrived within 10 minutes of the alert.
Paramedics at the scene assessed that Bello suffered severe injuries, including suspected fractures to both legs, before transporting him to a medical facility for urgent treatment.
Oke-Osanyintolu expressed sympathy to the victim while calling on motorists to obey traffic rules, maintain their vehicles, and drive responsibly.
He also reminded the public to use the toll-free emergency lines, 767 or 112, to report road incidents promptly.
