Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has spoken out against using physical discipline on children, revealing that his son smashed at least three television sets while growing up, yet he chose not to hit him.
Speaking on an online talk show hosted by Nedu and others, Bovi explained that his son used to throw items at the screen whenever he became angry.
Rather than reacting with physical force, Bovi opted to monitor his behavior and wait until he matured enough to understand his actions and show genuine remorse.
The comedian acknowledged that his financial status allowed him to replace the damaged appliances, noting that a lack of resources might have forced a different reaction.
He further urged parents to reflect on whether hitting their children is actually aimed at correction or simply stems from personal frustration.
