INEC has opened the door for millions of Nigerians hoping to work during the 2027 elections

Nigeria's electoral commission, INEC, opened applications on Friday for temporary workers needed for the 2027 elections.
The commission will hire about 1.4 million people to work across more than 176,000 polling units during elections scheduled for January 16 and February 6, 2027.
Jobs include supervisory presiding officers, presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, centre managers and technical support staff.
The online application portal closes at midnight on November 18, so interested candidates have two months to apply.
Who can apply depends on the position. NYSC members, students from federal and state universities, government employees, and ICT professionals are among those eligible.
Each role has different requirements. For instance, supervisory positions require federal or state employees at certain grade levels or serving NYSC members.
Presiding officer jobs are open to university students and some government workers with specific qualifications.
To apply, candidates visit the INECPRES portal at pres.inecnigeria.org or go through INEC's main website.
They fill in personal details, education and work history, choose their preferred position based on eligibility, then submit. The commission advises people not to wait until the last day.
INEC runs a 24-hour helpdesk for questions.
