The Federal Government has brought back 33 Nigerian nationals from South Africa as Afrophobic attacks against Africans continue in the country.

The group, comprising 17 adults and 16 minors, arrived on South African Airways on Wednesday, September 16.

They were received by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NIDCOM, NAPTIP and other government agencies.

This evacuation was the 12th from South Africa since the exercise began on June 10, 2026. So far, 1,716 Nigerians have been evacuated.

The Federal Government fully funded 1,388 evacuations, about 81 percent of the total.

The Private Nigerian Group of Business Friends and Nigerian Lawyers Association in South Africa sponsored this latest batch.

The Federal Government expressed deep concern about the persistent xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa.
