The Association of Orphanages and Home Operators in Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, has distanced itself from the Iranlowo Oluwa Orphanage where 30 children were rescued.

The facility was not a registered member of the association and did not meet government standards.

ASOHON said its members operate only approved homes that follow Kwara State guidelines.

The 30 children, aged between 2 and 15, were rescued by the state's Ministry of Social Development.

They have been moved to a government-approved shelter where they are receiving medical care, food and counselling.

The children are being screened for health needs and nutrition support.

The ministry is trying to find their families so they can be reunited where safe.

Those without families will be placed in approved care facilities.

Commissioner Mariam Nnfatima Imam ordered all orphanages and childcare homes in the state to register and get approval from the ministry.

Approved facilities must display "Approved by Kwara State Government" on their signposts so the public can identify legitimate homes.

The association praised the commissioner and her team for the rescue and pledged to work with the ministry to ensure compliance with regulations across the state.
