The Bayelsa State Police Command has charged eight suspects to court over the disappearance of a toddler, Amarachi Blessing Ogbonna, who vanished from a church premises on June 21, 2026.

According to a statement by the command's spokesperson, DSP Musa Mohammed, the Violent Crime Response Unit took over the case on the orders of the Commissioner of Police.

Following an intensive investigation, officers arrested several individuals, charging eight suspects before the Bayelsa State High Court in Yenagoa while releasing others with unproven involvement on bail.

Police dismissed claims on social media suggesting they were inactive on the case, clarifying that court vacations caused the delay in arraignment.

With courts now back in session, authorities confirmed that the investigation remains active and that search efforts are ongoing to locate and safely recover the missing child.
