Students at Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences have protested over an attack on a female hostel Monday morning.

A female student was raped and her finger was cut off.

She's now in a private hospital at Mile 6 area in Jalingo.

Hoodlums attacked the female hostel, stole mobile phones and other valuables from students.

This is the second attack in two weeks.

A student union official said they complained to school authorities after the first attack last week.

The Commissioner of Tertiary Education visited and promised security measures would be put in place in all hostels. Nothing was done.

The college has seven hostels one for males and six for females.

But students live scattered outside the campus premises with inadequate security.

This exposes them to danger, the official said.

The provost acknowledged the report but declined to comment further, asking for time.

The Taraba State Police Command confirmed the burglary and theft but said they haven't confirmed a rape incident yet.

A spokesperson said police are heading to the school and will give updates.
