A quiet morning in Ilorin turned tragic after residents made a disturbing discovery inside a well near a local Islamic school.

A 52-year-old man, Alaba Ayeni, has been found dead in a domestic well in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Firefighters recovered his body from the well beside Lamp Bearers Islamic School off Asa-Dam Road.
The Fire Service received a distress call and arrived at the scene around 8:42am.
Children in the neighbourhood discovered Ayeni inside the well and told elders.
The well was close to his home.
How he ended up in the well is still unclear.
His body was handed over to police for further action.
The Chief Fire Officer expressed concern and called on residents to take precautions around domestic wells and open water sources.
People should properly secure and cover domestic wells to prevent accidents.
Parents and community leaders should stop children from moving around unattended near wells, drainage channels and other dangerous areas.
The Fire Service condoled with the deceased's family and the community.
