A former top police officer in Niger State has died after a brief illness, leaving behind a notable record in the force.

Diseye Desire Nsirim, a former Commissioner of Police in Niger State, has died after a brief illness.
She died on Monday, September 21, in a hospital.
Nsirim served as Niger State's 27th Commissioner of Police from 2012 to 2014.
She was the first and only female Commissioner of Police to serve in the state.
During her tenure, she contributed to crime prevention, public safety and law and order
She dismantled the Darul-Salam group in Mokwa and busted another terrorist group in Minna.
She was from Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The current Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, commiserated with her family, relatives, colleagues and associates.
He described her contributions to policing in Niger State and national security as significant.
He prayed for strength and fortitude for the family to bear the loss.
