Wike Fires Back at Kingibe Over FCT Loan Claims

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has dismissed Senator Ireti Kingibe's allegations that he obtained loans for capital projects without National Assembly approval.

Wike said Kingibe doesn't understand how legislation and public finance work.

He questioned how any government official could get a loan without the legislature's approval.

Loans are included in the budget, Wike said.

If you want to take a loan for projects, it goes in the budget that the National Assembly approves.

Wike said Kingibe is no longer relevant in FCT politics.

Her time in the Senate is ending.

Residents have already chosen to support President Tinubu and Philip Aduda, who represented FCT in previous Senates.

"She's already packing her things.

Let us not waste time reacting to an ex-senator," he said.

Wike argued that Kingibe's accusations come from confusion over how fast infrastructure development is happening in Abuja.

First she criticized his administration for doing nothing.

Now she's criticizing him for taking loans to do the work.

"Her problem is that I took a loan.

But the real question should be: are we using the loan to help residents? If we're doing this kind of infrastructure work, she thinks we must have taken a loan.

Too bad for her," he said.
