A 21-year-old Alabama woman, CloeRae McBrayer, was accidentally shot and killed by her 22-year-old boyfriend, Landon Lowrance, while visiting him in Alaska.
According to investigators, Lowrance was handling a revolver around 9:00 PM on September 16 when he pointed it at McBrayer and accidentally pulled the trigger, striking her.
A friend present at the scene called 911 while police could hear distress in the background.
Overwhelmed by grief over what had happened, Lowrance grabbed another firearm and took his own life despite the caller's attempt to stop him.
McBrayer died at the scene, while Lowrance was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later passed away.
Lowrance’s father, Samuel Lowrance, called the tragedy a heartbreaking reminder never to take gun safety for granted.
McBrayer’s mother, Amanda Hooper, shared that her daughter had recently enrolled in an Alaskan college to move closer to Lowrance and that the couple had discussed marriage.
Hooper expressed deep sympathy for Lowrance's family, noting that the two truly loved each other.
