With insecurity, high prices and lack of jobs affecting many Nigerians, the Arewa Youth Forum wants young people to pay close attention to the 2027 election.

The Arewa Youth Forum has called on young people in the north to vote based on what they believe is right in the 2027 elections, pointing to insecurity and hardship plaguing the country.
The forum made the call after holding an emergency meeting of its national leadership and state heads at Arewa House in Kaduna to discuss the nation's state and plan youth participation in next year's vote.
Insecurity has gotten worse across the North-East, North-West, North-Central and other parts of Nigeria, the forum said, forcing people from their homes and costing lives.
Farming, once a source of pride, has become dangerous and schools are no longer safe places for children.
The forum said the country cannot build tomorrow while living in fear.
On money matters, the youth group blamed the government's economic reforms for high inflation, rising prices for goods and mass joblessness.
It also said electricity has become more costly and harder to find despite government promises, hurting young people who run barbing shops, welding businesses, cold storage facilities and computer centers.
The forum wants major changes in schools and flagged problems in the health system as well.
In what it plans to do, the AYF urged young people not to let themselves be split apart by tribe, faith or political party, noting that bad leadership, poverty and insecurity affect everyone the same way.
It told youth to get their voter cards, refuse to sell their votes and guard their votes from the polling station through the counting centers.
