The Jigawa State Government wants to add N46.3 billion to its 2026 budget.

The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed a 2026 Budget Review and Proposed Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N46.3 billion for first reading.
The Speaker announced this during Wednesday's sitting after receiving a message from Governor Umar Namadi asking the assembly to consider the supplementary budget.
The Speaker said the N46.3 billion supplementary appropriation shows the administration's commitment to spending wisely, being accountable and being open about how the state handles money.
The review aims to make sure available resources go toward programmes and projects that will help the state develop and improve people's lives.
The Majority Leader moved a motion for the bill to be read for the first time, and a member from Kiyawa Constituency seconded it.
The bill was then formally read for the first time.
The assembly adjourned to Thursday, September 24.
The supplementary appropriation came after the Jigawa State Executive Council approved a review of the 2026 budget law and added more money, raising the total by N46.369 billion.
If the bill becomes law, Jigawa State's 2026 budget will rise from the original N901.8 billion to around N948.2 billion.
