Former President Muhammadu Buhari's aide Bashir Ahmad says the Northwest will play an important role in the 2027 presidential election because of its large number of voters.

A former media aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has said the Northwest region will matter most in the 2027 presidential election.
Ahmad said the region is a major base of support for President Tinubu heading into the vote.
The former presidential aide noted that the Northwest has enormous election power with 23.8 million registered voters.
He said Nigeria's largest geopolitical zone will be the most important region in next year's election.
With over 23.8 million voters recorded by INEC, the region carries heavy election weight.
Ahmad said from what he sees, the region stays a major centre backing President Tinubu, with his supporters across all seven states organizing and mobilizing ahead of the election.
