A PDP chieftain in Ekiti State has praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for giving 100 operational vehicles to security agencies in the state, calling it a major investment in how the state keeps people safe.
Oluwole Oluyede, the PDP candidate in the June 20 governorship election, said the vehicles would help security workers move around better, be seen more and respond faster across the state.
Oluyede said protecting lives and property should be a shared duty of all political leaders and community people, no matter what party they support.
He commended the governor for this step in the security sector, saying security is what allows real progress.
Without peace and safety, people cannot enjoy what government does, businesses cannot grow and investors will not want to come.
The 100 vehicles are not just equipment, Oluyede said.
They are an investment in how well security agencies can handle emergencies, improve patrols and keep a strong security presence in communities.
He called on security agencies to see this as a call to take on greater responsibility and to use and maintain the vehicles well so they last long.
He said there must be stronger work between the different security agencies with information sharing, quick responses and coordinated operations to keep the peace Ekiti is known for.
Oluyede also praised security workers in Ekiti for their hard work and sacrifice to protect people despite difficult conditions.
He said they deserve government backing and help from residents.
He asked traditional leaders, community chiefs, youth groups, religious bodies and people in all 16 local government areas to keep helping security agencies with useful tips to stop crime and protect communities.
Government must provide needed equipment and support while security agencies must use those resources properly and people must work with security and share real information, he said.
That way the state can build a safer and more successful Ekiti together.
