The Federal Government says it plans to hire 4,000 social media influencers to tell Nigerians about its projects and achievements before the 2027 elections.

The Minister of Works has said the Federal Government plans to hire 4,000 social media influencers to showcase infrastructure projects and communicate achievements to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Umahi made this known on Tuesday in Abuja while receiving a report from the National Association of Nigerian Students on their inspection of federal road projects across Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and Sokoto states.
He said the network would help communicate directly with Nigerians, particularly young people, about projects being executed across the country.
He said the government must fight the social media war and launch 4,000 social media influencers to tell their stories.
He said he is proud of what the President is doing in infrastructure and the gains made in various sectors of the economy so the government must tell its stories.

The minister said the students' inspection tour enabled them to identify areas where more infrastructure was needed, particularly around tertiary institutions.
He said he wants his directors to note the request for pedestrian bridges and the ministry will do it.
The ministry will consider pedestrian bridges on roads leading to university campuses and other safety steps in future road projects.
On the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the minister said the entire 105-kilometre pavement under the current construction section is expected to be finished by November.
But he complained about vandalism on the coastal highway.
People have been destroying the infrastructure by passing through camps, driving over them to cross from one point to another.
People cut the iron used, destroy block walls and remove covers. He said this is not acceptable.
Umahi commended the students for undertaking the inspection tour and said Nigerians should assess public projects directly.
He said the students were tired of hearing about infrastructure success and went on their own to see how it positively affects the lives and safety of students.
That is good leadership, he said.
