Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has sparked a fresh conversation over petrol prices, pointing to the much higher cost of fuel in the UK as a basis for comparison.

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo says Nigerians are actually enjoying fuel at its current price compared to global costs.
He pointed out that a litre of petrol in England costs around N3,000 after conversion.
Speaking Thursday at an event for the Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road project, Okpebholo said the price Nigerians pay is relatively cheap by international standards.
He recounted visiting London the previous week where he checked fuel costs with a friend to compare with Nigerian prices.
After currency conversion, English fuel came out to about N3,000 per litre.
The governor credited President Bola Tinubu with stabilising the economy and described him as an economist working to fix the country's problems.
He suggested that supermarket operators should wait their turn to run Nigeria, implying that technocrats like the president are needed to manage economic policy.
