The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, has deployed 3,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory to ensure a peaceful 66th Independence Anniversary celebration.
FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu ordered the security deployment to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets across Abuja.
According to command spokesperson Monica Ojobi, the rollout includes specialized operational units such as the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, Crack Squad, Agro Rangers, Counter-Terrorism, and the CBRNE unit.
Officers have been stationed at potential targets and high-traffic areas, including shopping centers, public parks, markets, and transit hubs, alongside undercover agents conducting surveillance in volatile spots and uncompleted buildings.
Odumosu directed area commanders to maintain a strong physical presence, maintain strict discipline, and collaborate closely with other security agencies, warning that no security breaches would be tolerated during the celebrations.
