The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that newly printed Permanent Voter Cards must be collected in person and not by proxy.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, Professor Adeniran Tella, said this in a statement made available on Tuesday.

Tella said collection of the new PVCs ahead of the 2027 general elections will begin on Friday, October 9, 2026, at all 33 INEC local government area offices in the state.

He insisted that nobody will be allowed to collect a card for another person.

He asked members of the public and stakeholders in the electoral system to cooperate with the commission, and said arrangements have been made with security agents to keep the exercise open, orderly and peaceful.

The REC also said many uncollected PVCs from the 2023 general election are still with the commission, and urged their owners to use this period to pick them up.
