The Senate has moved the deadline for spending money meant for 2025 capital projects from September 30 to December 31, 2026.

The Senate has approved another extension of the capital part of the 2025 budget, moving the deadline from September 30, 2026 to December 31, 2026.
The Upper Chamber passed the bill on Tuesday after going through it clause by clause.
The bill, an Act to amend the 2025 Appropriation Act, was brought by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, APC, Ekiti Central. Leading the debate, Bamidele said the reason for the change was strong and practical.
He said capital projects under the 2025 budget have not been carried out as well as they should, even after funds were released to ministries, departments and agencies.
He presented the bill as SB. 1067, which seeks to extend the capital part of the Appropriations (Repeal and Enactment) Act 2025 to December 31, 2026, and for other related matters.
