The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, working with security operatives, has impounded 20 cows in two separate operations in Ibadan over alleged open grazing, rearing cattle in residential areas and destruction of farm crops.

The authority's Chairperson, Justice Aderonke Aderemi (retd.), shared this online, on Thursday.

She said the first operation took place at dawn on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Batake Village along the Ibadan-Eruwa Road.

It followed a petition from Adewolu Farms over repeated invasion and destruction of its farmland by cattle.

The farm grows cassava, maize, yam and cashew.

Officials and security operatives went to the spot where the cattle were kept.

The herders allegedly tried to drive the animals away when they saw the team, but nine cows were caught.

The second operation happened at dawn on Thursday, October 1, at Idi-Iroko, Moniya, Ibadan.

The authority impounded 11 more cows there over alleged residential rearing and open grazing.

The authority said the operations are part of its work to enforce the Oyo State Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation Law, 2019, and protect residents, farmers and lawful economic activities in the state.

It urged residents and farmers to report violations through the proper channels and promised that all genuine complaints will be handled according to the law.

Aderemi said the agency will keep enforcing the law in the interest of residents and farmers, and asked the public to cooperate by sharing information on suspected violations.
