Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, on his 70th birthday.
In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor described Alake as a distinguished son of Ekiti who has made the state proud over the years through his contributions to national development.
Oyebanji said Alake has played a big part in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda, with his commitment to growing non-oil revenue.
He also praised him as an exceptional journalist and communicator who used his platform to protect human rights and advance democracy.
The governor said Alake was one of the heroes of the return of democracy in Nigeria, because he pushed hard for it in the media at great risk to his life during military rule.
He also hailed his journey as a reporter, editor, media manager, administrator and public servant, including his time as Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State and Special Adviser on Communication to the President before he became minister.
Oyebanji said Ekiti will always be proud of the minister for projecting the state's image and helping its growth.
He prayed that God will grant him long life, good health and the grace to keep making an impact in service to the country and humanity.
On behalf of the government and people of Ekiti, he wished Alake a happy birthday and prayed for good health and wisdom so he can keep serving the country with even greater distinction.
