The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested the main suspect in a case of criminal conspiracy and murder in Karofin Madaki, Bauchi metropolis, three months after he went into hiding.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said this in a statement on Tuesday.
He said operatives of the A Division, Township, arrested the suspect, Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, 24, also known as Abba Sale Police, on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The arrest followed a tip from a Good Samaritan.
Habib said that on July 5, 2026, at about 9:30am, a 46-year-old man from Karofi, Rilwanu Dauda, was allegedly attacked and stabbed with a knife by the suspect and members of his gang.
The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where a doctor confirmed him dead at about 11am the same day.
The police said that after the incident, the command kept up efforts to catch the fleeing suspects and put them on its watchlist.
The suspects had also been linked to an earlier politically motivated killing in the same area before they disappeared.
Habib said the arrest came exactly three months after the crime, and that efforts are on to arrest the other gang members who are still at large.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu praised the operatives for their professionalism and resilience.
He warned that no criminal will have a hiding place in Bauchi State, and ordered that the case be thoroughly investigated and the suspect charged to court.
