Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has reacted strongly to comments from the NAFDAC boss about Nigerians and food safety.

Nollywood actress Mary Remmy Njoku has strongly criticized the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, over remarks accusing Nigerians of widespread ignorance regarding food safety.

The backlash comes after Adeyeye stated in a recent online interview that Nigerians suffer from severe ignorance, blaming a lack of reading and poor understanding of pesticide safety for many local food contamination issues.

Responding on her social media page, Njoku rejected the DG's claims and accused NAFDAC of shifting the agency's official responsibilities onto everyday consumers.

She argued that citizens cannot simply "read their way out" of flawed regulations, inadequate product testing, and weak enforcement.

Njoku urged the agency to stop deflecting blame and focus on properly inspecting processed foods, stressing that public health depends on regulators actively doing their jobs rather than faulting the public.
