Veteran Nigerian rapper Olusegun Osaniyi, popularly known as Lord of Ajasa, has become a United States citizen, and congratulations have been pouring in from fellow artistes, music producers and fans.
One of the pioneers of mainstream Yoruba rap shared clips and photos online on Wednesday, showing himself holding his American citizenship certificate.
In another photo, he and his wife posed with the American flag.
Music producer and Coded Tunes founder Olumide Ogunade, known as ID Cabasa, congratulated him, and the rapper thanked him.
Singer Abolore Akande, known as 9ice, also sent his congratulations, and Lord of Ajasa thanked him too.
Many other social media users joined in.
The news has also brought back talk about his place in the history of indigenous Nigerian hip-hop, especially his role in making Yoruba rap popular before acts like Dagrin, Olamide and Reminisce came along.
Songs like Le Fenu So, Esha Lo Bade and Mai Lo are still linked with throwback talk about the early days of Yoruba hip-hop.
His new status has also ended years of guessing among fans about why he spends so much time in the United States, where he has often performed at shows and events.
