Yusuf Abdullahi Itas, who represents Itas/Gadau State Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has withdrawn from the 2027 general election.
He was seeking re-election under the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
He announced his decision in a letter dated October 5, 2026 to the party's state chairman.
In the letter, he said he will no longer contest the seat and called his decision completely voluntary and personal.
Itas thanked the APM leaders and members for giving him the chance to represent the party.
He also thanked the people of his constituency for their support and encouragement while he was in office.
He is the Chairman of the House Committee on Petitions and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
His exit comes less than three weeks after the Bauchi Assembly Chief Whip, Musa Wakili Nakwada, also said he would not contest the 2027 elections.
