David Mark, national chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, says the party will follow electoral rules in the 2027 elections but will resist any attempt to manipulate the process.
He spoke on Wednesday in Abuja when a group from the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development visited him at the ADC headquarters.
The group was led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola.
Mark said the party holds itself to the highest standards of good conduct and will play by the rules.
He added that the ADC will not accept rigging or allow itself to be rigged out, and that it wants to play politics in a way that builds public trust in democracy.
The centre's governing council, known as the council of the wise, was set up again in June to work with key institutions and political stakeholders for peaceful, free and credible elections.
The visit was part of its ongoing talks with political parties ahead of the polls.
Ariwoola urged the ADC leaders to make sure their candidates and supporters follow INEC's rules and avoid any actions that could lead to political violence.
