Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved N2.3 billion for the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi.

The money will clear overdue pay for staff and cover new allowances that started in July 2024.

It will go to doctors, nurses and other health workers.

Senior doctors, resident doctors and nurses are all in line for the new pay.

The money will also fund yearly salary increases and the hospital's 2026 promotion exercise.

The hospital's chief medical director, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, thanked the governor.

He said the support will help staff feel valued and help the hospital keep giving good care to people across Benue.
