The Nasarawa State Police Command wants political parties to pause their rallies planned for October 10 2026.

The reason is the visit of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to Lafia.

She is expected at Lafia Square on Saturday for an APC North Central grassroots event, where she will be the special guest of honour.

In a statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel, the police said the goal is to stop clashes between rival supporters, prevent security breaches and keep troublemakers away from political events.

It also says the move will make it easier to move the First Lady and other guests safely.

The police said they respect the right of parties to hold meetings and rallies.

They are simply asking groups to move their events to another day.

CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed said the command will keep things fair for all parties and enforce the law.

He also thanked parties and residents for their cooperation and asked everyone to stay peaceful.
