Veteran actor Pete Edochie says his influence goes well beyond movies.
He told TV3 that his age and standing give him a kind of father role in the country.
He said that when he speaks, the people in power listen.
He turns 80 in the next six months, which makes him older than President Bola Tinubu and all 36 state governors.
So when he talks to them, he says, it feels like a father speaking to his son.
He also shared a time he used his voice to help someone.
While he was being interviewed at his home in Enugu, he learned that a colleague was sick.
He called on the government to step in.
The next week, the government sent that colleague half a million naira.
I was interviewed in my house in Enugu. During that period, one of my colleagues was ill so I used that opportunity of the interview to call upon the government to come to his aid. The following week, The Government sent half a million naira to him. In the next six months l’Il be turning 80. I’m older than all the governors and president, so when I talk to them, it’s like a father talking to a son.
