FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has ordered security agencies and the Department of Development Control to shut down unapproved beer parlours in the Asokoro area.

He made the order on Friday after a security meeting with the FCT Police Commissioner and the Director of the DSS in Abuja.

Wike said security reports pointed to threats coming from places leading into Asokoro, where some people were trying to open beer parlours without approval.

He said the administration will not allow it, because no approval has been given.

He directed the Development Control department, working with security agencies, to clear the affected spots right away.

He said the move is needed to stop security problems before they grow.

He added that the decision is being made public so residents know the FCT is serious about keeping law and order in the capital.
