Indonesia wants Nigerian businesses to invest there and is ready to offer perks to make it happen.
Iska Huberta Sinural, a senior trade analyst with Indonesia’s trade promotion authorities, said this on Tuesday.
She was speaking to journalists from Nigeria in Jakarta ahead of the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia.
She said investors could get tax benefits, special treatment and a different visa process.
Nigeria is also one of the top buyers at the expo.
It ranked fourth in 2022, third in 2024 and fourth in 2025.
Indonesia also wants more than simple buying and selling.
It is inviting Nigerians to invest in its factories, farms and other sectors.
Shipping goods across the ocean is costly and slow, so building factories in Indonesia could make it easier to get products.
Indonesia could also use its cheaper labour and farm resources to make goods for the Nigerian market.
Nigerian food, drinks and speciality coffee could sell well there too if they are adjusted to local taste, packaging and portion sizes.
Another official said trade between the two countries could grow fast.
He said a Nigerian delegation of about 250 people is expected this year, up from 100 to 150 last year.
Palm oil, rubber, healthcare, farm processing and green energy were named as areas to explore.
He also said high tariffs and shipping costs still need to be dealt with.
The expo runs from October 14 to 18.
Organisers have exceeded their exhibitor target, with about 1,600 companies signed up.
They are aiming for 17.5 billion dollars in deals this year.
