A concerned citizen has petitioned the government over the state of Garba Daho Primary School in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.
Pupils are learning in run down classrooms, with not enough furniture and poorly kept toilets.
In a petition dated October 13, education stakeholder Ismail Rabiu from Garba Daho Ward asked for urgent repairs.
He wants better classrooms, basic learning materials and cleaner toilets.
He sent the petition to the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board, the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Jos North local government chairman.
He asked them to inspect the school and act quickly.
A online reporter who visited the school saw deteriorating classrooms, cracked floors and too few desks and chairs.
The toilets were also in bad shape, which raises health concerns.
Rabiu said pupils need desks, chairs and proper teaching materials.
He asked for emergency repairs first.
"Our children deserve to learn in dignity.
Save them today," he said.
He stressed that his appeal is not meant to attack the local government.
He only wants attention on the children who attend the school.
