President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve a N100.5 billion promissory note to repay Yobe State for building the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu.
In a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday, he asked that the Debt Management Office be allowed to issue the note.
Tinubu said the Federal Executive Council approved taking over the airport and repaying the state on May 23, 2023.
The Bureau of Public Procurement then reviewed the project and recommended N100.5 billion as the amount to repay.
He asked the Senate to move quickly on the request.
It has been sent to the relevant Senate committee.
