Abdulkadir Basari, a tailor and CEO of Basari Apparels and Textiles Nigeria Limited, started a 120-hour non-stop sewing marathon in Kano on Wednesday, October 7.
It is expected to end on Monday night, October 12, 2026.
The attempt is taking place at the sports complex of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria.
He is aiming for a new Guinness World Record for the longest sewing marathon by one person.
The challenge, called Sew for the Nation, is also meant to raise support for education.
He plans to sew school uniforms for pupils from poor backgrounds in public schools.
The current record is 106 hours, 55 minutes and 20 seconds.
Nigerian tailor Oluwaseun Kuforiji set it in January 2025.
Basari's attempt must still be verified by Guinness World Records before it can count.
