The Anambra State Government has warned young people about the dangers of substance abuse, counterfeit medicines and adulterated consumables.
Special Adviser on Youth Reformation Dr Nelson Omenugha made the call in a statement on Wednesday.
He said reports of serious illnesses, kidney problems and sudden deaths among young people are deeply worrying.
He said these could be caused by drug misuse, fake medicines or unsafe products.
He urged young people to avoid hard drugs and misuse of prescription medicines.
He also asked them to buy medicines only from trusted sources, check the safety of food and drinks, and never take anything recommended by unqualified people.
He condemned those who sell hard drugs, fake medicines and adulterated products for money.
He asked youths, parents, community leaders and others to report suspected drug networks and fake medicine sellers to NAFDAC, NDLEA or other law enforcement agencies.
His office at the Light House in Awka will also take reports.
He added that people should not confront suspected sellers themselves, as this could put them in danger.
