The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) is getting ready to hold bye-elections in Donga, Wukari and Jalingo local government areas.

The polls will fill council seats left empty after some councillors died or resigned.

The state government has approved the exercise.

TSIEC Chairman Dr Bala Job Aji made the announcement on Tuesday.

He spoke while receiving visits from the National Council of Women Societies and the management of Gift FM Jalingo.

He said working with women's groups and the media will help get residents out to vote and build trust in the process.

Aji said the commission wants to work closely with partner organisations and will involve the visiting groups in future activities.

Both delegations promised their support and said they want to help promote credible elections in the state.
