The Federal Government has proposed a new examination timetable for 2027 so that WAEC, NECO and other major exam results come out by August.

The aim is to end delays that disrupt the move from secondary school to university, polytechnic or college, with admissions starting in September.

Education Minister of State Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad shared the plan at a meeting with heads of examination bodies in Abuja.

The meeting aimed to avoid clashes between exams and make sure results are released on time.

The statement was issued by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry.

Under the proposal, JAMB will hold the 2027 UTME from March 15 to 25, with results in the same month.

NECO's SSCE runs from April 1 to May 14.

WAEC's WASSCE runs from May 11 to June 18.

NABTEB's exam is set for June 1 to July 5, and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies exam for June 10 to July 9.

NECO and WAEC are expected to release results in August 2027, and NABTEB and NBAIS results are also expected in August.

The ministry says the plan is part of Education Minister Tunji Alausa's reform agenda under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative.

It is still only a proposal, and its success depends on the exam bodies coordinating well and meeting the deadlines.
