The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Anambra State has arrested Anuba Chisom, 39, for allegedly vandalising an IHS-MTN telecom mast at Okpuno, near UNIZIK Temporary Site in Awka.

He is from Amaputa in Abia State.

Operatives picked him up at about 4am on Thursday after receiving credible information while on patrol.

They found him at the mast with vandalised cables and other parts.

Commandant Olatunde Maku paraded him at the state command headquarters in Awka.

Maku said the suspect belongs to a syndicate behind a rise in vandalism across the state.

He said Chisom has confessed to vandalising two other sites and blamed unemployment.

Maku warned vandals to leave Anambra State, saying unemployment does not excuse crime.

He asked the public to keep sharing information with the Corps.

The suspect will be investigated and charged in court.
