President Donald Trump has ruled out livestreaming the execution of former US Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan.
Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people in the 2009 shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.
Trump announced the decision on his Truth Social platform on Thursday.
He said Hasan will still be executed by firing squad on December 3, 2026.
Trump had earlier said that broadcasting the execution could deter terrorism.
He changed his mind after considering the views of people who did not want to watch it.
He said the victims' immediate families may attend in person if they wish.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had announced that the execution would be livestreamed, which drew objections from lawmakers and religious leaders.
The US Army said the execution is set for 1pm local time at Fort Hood, where the shooting happened.
A military jury convicted Hasan in 2013 of premeditated murder and attempted murder and sentenced him to death.
The attack also raised questions about how the FBI and military handled information about Hasan's communications with Anwar al-Awlaki before the shooting.
Trump said the FBI concluded that Hasan's emails did not pose a threat, and he called that a key intelligence failure.
