The Nigeria Customs Service Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command has seized smuggled goods with a duty-paid value of N721.9 million.
Acting Area Controller Deputy Comptroller Haliru Isah Abdullahi announced the seizures at a press briefing in Sokoto on Thursday.
The haul includes a used DAF truck, 599 bales of second-hand clothes, seven sacks of second-hand women's bags, 43 cartons of cigarettes and seven cartons of Akouna coffee.
Pharmaceutical products were also seized, including 100 packs of quinine, 500 packs of amodiaquine, 140 packs of paracetamol and 300 packs of anti-cold medicine.
Other medical items included analgesic injections, Dynewell syrup and tablets, and Clear Cold.
Abdullahi said the operations continued despite security challenges in parts of the command's area.
He warned that unregistered drugs pose serious health risks and said stopping smuggling would protect public health and the economy.
He urged Nigerians to share credible information with the command and vowed that the Sokoto/Zamfara Command would not be a safe haven for smugglers.
He also thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and partner security agencies.
