The Anambra State Government says the 18 to 35 age bracket will be strictly enforced across youth development programmes, youth organisations and leadership positions meant for young people. The rule takes effect on January 1, 2027.

Special Adviser on Youth Reformation Dr Nelson Omenugha said youth groups must review their membership, leadership and guidelines to comply before the deadline.

After January 1, 2027, the Ministry of Youth Development and other government agencies will not recognise groups that fail to meet the age requirement.

He said the policy aims to ensure that opportunities for young people reach the people they are meant for, promote fairness and give emerging leaders room to grow.

He stressed that the rule does not exclude people over 35.

Older citizens are encouraged to mentor and support young people, but positions reserved for youths must go to eligible young people.
