Power Minister Joseph Tegbe has dismissed reports that electricity tariffs will go up.
Speaking in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday, he said the government's priority is reliable power supply.
"There is no plan to increase electricity tariffs.
What we are planning is a power sector that works around the clock.
Our commitment is 24/7 power," he said.
He was speaking at the groundbreaking of five linked mini-grid projects with a combined generation capacity of 17.7 megawatts and a 17.74 megawatt-hour battery storage system.
The projects are in Bola, Jiboye, Molade-Adelubi, Ogo Oluwa and Sooko-Elega, and will serve communities in Akinyele, Ido, Ibadan North, Egbeda and Lagelu local government areas.
Tegbe said the government is pursuing energy corridors, including Lagos-Ogun, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano and Benin-Enugu-Port Harcourt.
He also said plans are underway to strengthen the national grid and improve generation and transmission across the country.
He said the mini-grids will expand access to electricity, reduce reliance on petrol and diesel generators, and help businesses and job creation.
He presented the project as part of President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
He thanked the Rural Electrification Agency, developer Paras Energy and Natural Resources Development Limited, the World Bank, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company and the Oyo State Government, and urged community leaders to support the projects.
